Description
When Paolo de Marchi's family bought vineyards in the villages of Isole and Olena in the 1960s, Chianti was still sold in demijohns as a cheap red wine. The Chianti from Isole e Olena is now one of the top wines of the region and is especially famous for its refined style and expression of the Sangiovese grape. The very best Marchi wine is made exclusively from that famous and characteristic Tuscan grape. The vineyard is located on a hill in San Donato in Poggio in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. After fermentation, the wine matures for about 14 months in small oak barrels of different origins. The complexity and quality of this wine are widely recognized. Truly a “Super Tuscan”.
