Description

François Teisserenc is a winemaker who can truly do it all. He has already demonstrated a talent for beautifully crafted alcohol-free wines and outstanding, crystal-clear natural wines. To this latter line, the renowned Brut de Cuves, he now adds this Brut d'Orange, a true "orange wine."

Orange wine sounds rather exotic, but it's actually the oldest winemaking method, as was common in Georgia millennia ago. Today, an "orange wine" is a white wine made like a red. This means that the skins of the white grapes are soaked in the juice after crushing before being pressed. This gives the wine its distinctive orange or amber color.

François makes his Brut d'Orange primarily from aromatic muscat à petit grains. And that's clearly reflected in the wine. It's intensely floral in aroma and flavor, and also beautifully fruity and spicy. Because of the maceration on the skins, "orange wine" always has a subtle bitterness from the tannins. In the case of this Brut, they are beautifully ripe.

Enjoy this unique, dry orange wine as a surprising and adventurous aperitif, but also feel free to serve it at the table; its texture makes it a perfect accompaniment! L'Arjolle's recommendation? Duck with orange sauce, aged cheeses, or a fruit dessert.
