Information
Impressive top quality wine
From hand-picked Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina grapes
Refined and elegant
"the Burgundy of Italy"

Nebbiolo, Vespolina & Croatina

Refined Italian red wine with the scent of herbs, pepper, jam and cherries. Smooth and soft in taste, very elegant. Delicious with risotto, roasted meat or a spicy cheese.

Paolo de Marchi in Piedmont

In 1999, the famous Chianti producer Paolo de Marchi and his son Luca took over the ancestral domain in Lessona.

The vineyards of this once famous wine region are located in the northern part of Piedmont, on the foothills of the Alps and on poor soil. Viticulture in Lessona disappeared in the early 1900s due to two successive harvests that completely failed due to hail, and few producers remained. The success of father and son De Marchi also attracts new, young winemakers.

The region is not suitable for high yields, but it is suitable for top quality wine, with an emphasis on a refined, elegant style. Such as the impressive Uvaggio, made from hand-picked nebbiolo (80%), vespolina (15%) and croatina grapes (5%).

Fermentation takes place with natural yeast cells and the wine matures for approximately eighteen months in large oak barrels of 1,500 liters. Luca himself says that he makes 'the Burgundy of Italy'. Measured by the refinement and high quality, this is an apt comparison!
