Description
Markus Huber makes beautiful white wines in Austria's Traisental Valley. This small region, south of the much more famous and large Kremstal Valley, is known for its high limestone content. The climate, with cool summer nights and warm days, is ideal for white wine production. It is reminiscent of the climate of Burgundy, which lies at the same latitude.
The Grüner Veltliner excels in Traisental and, thanks in part to the chalky soil, achieves a particularly refined expression. The Alte Setzen vineyard boasts vines over fifty years old and is classified as Erste Lage (First Low), a strict selection process established by the Association of Austrian Traditional Wineries. The finest and ripest grapes from this vineyard are selected and then fermented in a cool, dry environment.
This is followed by a further four months of maturation in large acacia wood barrels and aging on the dead yeast cells. The result is an impressive dry white wine with both richness and finesse. A truly top-tier wine that has garnered high praise and is among the top of our white wine range.
