Red wine from the Western Cape

David Nieuwoudt crafts exquisite wines distinguished by their elegance and freshness. David is currently the fifth generation of the family to manage this beautiful winery, located approximately 250 kilometers north of Cape Town. The vineyards are situated in the Cederberg National Park at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. Thanks to the cool climate at this altitude, the grapes ripen for extended periods. This is essential for producing a refined, European-style wine.

The harvest is even later than in the Stellenbosch vineyards—despite the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean there—and is comparable to the harvest time in Bordeaux. It's no wonder that an elegant Cabernet with European allure is produced here. The yield in the vineyard is comparable to that of a good Bordeaux, around 45 hectoliters per hectare. The 15 months of aging in exclusively first- and second-year oak of French origin is also worthy of a top-notch wine.
