Fragrant red wine from South Africa with nuances of blackcurrant herbs and oak. Full and juicy taste. Delicious with spicy beef dishes or pork.
David Nieuwoudt makes beautiful wines that are distinguished by elegance and freshness. David is currently the fifth generation of this fine wine estate located about 250 kilometers north of Cape Town. The vineyards are located in the nature reserve Cederberg at a height of over 1,000 meters. Thanks to the coolness at this height, the grapes ripen for a long time. That is an important condition for making a refined wine in European style.
The harvest is even later than in the Stellenbosch vineyards - despite the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean there - and can be compared to the harvest moment in Bordeaux. No wonder that an elegant Cabernet is made here with European allure. The yield in the vineyard is comparable to that of a good Bordeaux; around 45 hectoliters per hectare. Also the maturation of 15 months on only first and second year oaks of French origin is a top wine worthy.
