Description

Maurice Barnouin harvests a distinctive and refined Pinot Noir in his relatively cool vineyards, a stark contrast to the many powerful southern French wines made from the more common Mediterranean grapes. Demand for elegant red wines with pure fruit expression is increasing, especially for the warm summer months. Red wine is increasingly being brought out of the refrigerator! This is partly why Beaujolais is becoming popular again, and this Pinot Noir—with its beautiful, light flavor structure—fits perfectly.

By harvesting the grapes at optimal ripeness and applying a cool maceration technique before fermentation, the winemaker achieves fruitiness and suppleness. Brief skin contact during fermentation and the omission of oak aging emphasize the typical character of this fruity and accessible Pinot Noir.
