original, aromatic white wine from southern Italy
of the local Falanghina grape
produced biodynamically
delicious with Mediterranean fish dishes

A beautiful Falanghina from Campania

Southern Italian dry white wine made from the Falanghina grape. It has a lovely aroma of apricot, pineapple, and toast. The taste is full and balanced: delicious with fish dishes or fine veal.

Vines over 45 years old

Pasquale Clemente is the driving force behind this small winery in the hills behind Naples near Benevento. He farms biodynamically in the village of Montesarchio. However, due to the bureaucratic burden, he adamantly refuses to apply for certification. A typical Italian attitude, in our opinion!

Pasquale produces regional wines from Fiano, Greco, Aglianico, and Falanghina grapes, among others. His winery is a true paradise for the adventurous wine lover seeking typicity and with an eye for the great cultural and historical values of this region. Moreover, Pasquale is a gifted winemaker, and his wines regularly win awards. As recently as late 2013, Italian wine writer Luca Maroni named one of his red wines Miglior Vino Rosso d'Italia 2014.

The Falanghina was cloned from very old vines, and the current vineyard, situated at an altitude of over 500 meters, is now on average 45 years old.

Combined with biodynamic farming methods, this results in low yields and concentrated grapes. The harvest does not take place until the second week of October. The hand-picked grapes are then quickly transported to the winery for modern temperature-controlled vinification. Combined with the coolness of the vineyard, this produces wines with a delightful freshness, despite their Southern Italian origins. Looking for originality? Then try this Falanghina from Frattasi!
