Tasting note Château Poitevin
Deep red in color and a beautiful, intense aroma, with nuances of oak, lightly toasted notes, and ripe red berry fruit. Round and balanced in flavor, with a long, aromatic finish.
Description
Château Poitevin is one of the many relatively anonymous Cru Bourgeois vineyards in the northern part of the Médoc, an area quite far removed from the "big names." Saint-Estèphe, the northernmost commune of the Haut-Médoc, is located almost thirty kilometers south of the Médoc. It's therefore understandable that Château Poitevin and its peers are not widely known in this corner of Bordeaux.
While this wine doesn't produce Grand Cru-level wines, it does produce exceptionally good and enjoyable Bordeaux. Like this estate, where Guillaume and Natacha Poitevin cultivate the vineyards according to "agriculture raisonnée"—a method that includes minimal pesticide use. The wine is made using traditional methods, working closely with renowned oenologist Antoine Medeville. After fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately twelve months in small oak barrels.
