Kershaw Chardonnay Elgin
A powerful and intensely aromatic dry white wine with toasted notes of oak and ripe tropical fruit, such as melon and peach. The palate opens full and rounded, developing a long, aromatic finish.
Richard Kershaw Wines
Englishman Richard Kershaw, with his prestigious Master of Wine degree, opened a boutique winery in Elgin. Since 2012, he has been producing phenomenal wines from dozens of small plots—each with a perfect match of climate, soil type, and grape variety. To achieve optimal vineyard expression, Kershaw uses specific Burgundy clones with low per-plant yields.
The style is also clearly inspired by top Old World wines. This elegant, cool-climate Chardonnay has a Meursault-like allure and has been making waves in the international wine world since its first harvest. Beautifully oak-aged and refined in flavor, it boasts abundant juice, ripe citrus fruit, and a long finish. Undoubtedly one of the finest white wines from South Africa. Production is limited to just 10,000 bottles.
