Description
Tenuta Sauvignon Blanc
A high-quality Sauvignon Blanc from the northern Italian wine region of Alto-Adige. Expressive on the nose, with aromas of citrus and stone fruit. Intense and full-bodied, with juicy acidity and a stony minerality. Delicious with fish, shellfish, and white meat.
Biodynamic and delicious from Manicor
With its fifty hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards near Lake Kaltern (Lago di Caldaro), Manincor is among the very best in Alto Adige, Northern Italy. The region owes its reputation primarily to its flawless, single-variety white wines. Manincor's Tannenberg, made from Sauvignon Blanc, is a prime example.
The grapes for Tannenberg come from Lieben Aich, a vineyard 300 meters above sea level with a southwesterly exposure. This superior location ensures optimal ripening. The soil consists of volcanic rock with a top layer of loam, which gives the wine a mineral character. Once the grapes are pressed, a short maceration of the skins follows for enhanced aroma and structure. After spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels, the wine is aged on the yeasts for several months. This provides additional structure and complexity. This exceptional Sauvignon Blanc is therefore not only aromatic and fresh, but also full-bodied and with a beautiful mineral character.
To best appreciate this complex wine, we recommend decanting it and serving it in large Burgundy glasses.
