Tasting note Manincor Tannenberg

Special quality Sauvignon Blanc from the North Italian wine region Alto-Adige. Expressive in the nose, with aromas of citrus and stone fruit. Intense and full of flavor, with juicy acidity and stony minerality. Delicious with fish, crustaceans and shellfish and white meat.

With its fifty hectares of biodynamic vineyards near Lake Kaltern (Lago di Caldaro) wine producer Manincor belongs to the absolute top of Alto Adige in northern Italy. The region owes its reputation particularly to flawless white wines from a single grape variety. Manincors Tannenberg, made from sauvignon blanc, is a wonderful example of this.

The grapes for the Tannenberg come from Lieben Aich, a vineyard 300 meters above sea level with southwestern exposition. This superior location ensures optimal ripening. The soil consists of volcanic rock with a top layer of clay, giving the wine a mineral character. As soon as the grapes are pressed, a short peel succession follows for more aroma and structure. After the spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels, the wine matures for several months on the yeasts. This creates extra structure and complexity. This particular sauvignon blanc is not only aromatic and fresh, but also mouth filling and with a nice mineral character.

In order for this complex wine to come into its own best, we advise you to decant the wine and serve it in large Burgundy glasses.
