Tasting notes Thorle Riesling

Refined dry white wine with slightly floral nuances, fresh yellow fruit and some spiciness. The taste absorbs juicy, fresh acid and develops balanced and fragrant in the aftertaste.

Description

The famous Rheinhessen vineyards Hölle, Probstey and Schlossberg are the pride of Christoph and Johannes Thörle. The Schlossberg has a special microclimate that ensures a long and even ripening of the grapes. The combination with the calcareous soil makes this vineyard ideal for the production of Thörles most elegant and complex Riesling. It has a refined mineral undertone and a beautiful balance between fine acid and mild tones. Exactly how a top Riesling should be. Schlossberg is not Grosses Gewächs vineyard, for the simple reason that Thörle is not a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter). Only the VDP uses this classification of vineyards exclusively for its members. The strict VDP in Rheinhessen demands a history of at least ten years of top-quality wine for the sought-after membership. The young winemakers at Thörlenog can not show that. Gault & Millau is quicker with the deserved recognition and places the fast-name producer next to the VDP-greats like Wittmann, Keller and Wagner Stempel.
