Information
sultry, southern Italian red wine
from Salice Salentino, Puglia
blend of negroamaro and malvasia nera
matured in French barriques

Tasting note Due Palme Montecoco

A wonderfully smooth, rounded Southern Italian wine. Bright red in color, with a mildly spicy aroma and hints of candied red fruit. The palate begins smoothly and is balanced, finishing slightly fresh and rounded. Pairs well with lightly spiced dishes, pasta, and pizza. Drink now and keep well for up to four years after harvest.

Description

Salice Salentino, with its red clay soils, warm climate, and cooling maritime influence, is one of the most famous appellations in the southern Italian wine region of Puglia. The DOC owes its reputation to its elegant yet robust red wines made from the Negroamaro grape.

Cantine Due Palme's Montecoco also consists mainly of Negroamaro, supplemented with a little Malvasia Nera. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness, and after fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in French oak barriques.

Juiciness, roundness, and warmth define this beautiful red. Despite the warm climate and oak aging, the wine is wonderfully smooth and easy to drink. Enjoy it with grilled meat, for example, or with classic parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant with Parmesan).
