sultry, southern Italian red wine
from Salice Salentino, Puglia
blend of negroamaro and malvasia nera
matured in French barriques
Tasting note Due Palme Montecoco
Wonderfully smooth, round South Italian wine. Bright red in color, with a mild spicy aroma and notes of candied red fruit. The taste is smooth and balanced and ends slightly fresh and round in the aftertaste. Good to combine with lightly spiced dishes, pasta and pizza. Now ready to drink and has a good shelf life up to four years after harvest.
Salice Salentino, with its red clay soils, warm climate and cooling sea influence, is one of the most famous appellations of the southern Italian wine region of Puglia. The DOC owes its reputation to its elegant but also robust red wines from the negroamaro grape.
Cantine Due Palme's Montecoco also consists mainly of negroamaro, supplemented with a little malvasia nera. The grapes are harvested optimally ripe, and after fermentation, the wine matures for six months in French oak barriques.
Juicyness, roundness and warmth, that is what characterizes the Montecoco. Despite the warm climate and the wood refining, the wine is wonderfully smooth and drinkable. Drink it with grilled meat, for example, or with classic parmigiana di melanzane (aubergine with Parmesan).
