Still special to have at home. The highest rated (dry) red wine from Portugal ever by Robert Parker: 2011 Mouchao Tonel No. 3-4 (97 points).
The reviews say the wine is 'easy' to drink until 2040 .. the winemakers themselves are talking about eternal life!
The very best red wine from Mouchaõ, Tonel nº 3-4, is part of a very select group of Portuguese top wines that can compete internationally at the highest level. Tonel nº 3-4 is made exclusively from alicante bouschet grapes and picked by hand in the Carapetos vineyard. The grapes are taken to the cellar in 20 kg trays, not destemmed and in lagares, large open fermentation trays, pressed with the feet and then slowly fermented. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in large casks of Portuguese oak bearing numbers 3 and 4 and giving the name to this impressive red wine made only in the best vintages. Mouchão is one of the great classics in the Portuguese wine world. A 38-hectare wine estate, owned by the Reynolds family since 1901, where time stood still and was only connected to electricity in 1991. Here wine is made without haste, as in the old days. Recommended serving temperature is 17ºC.
