Yet special to have at home. The highest rated (dry) red wine from Portugal ever by Robert Parker: 2011 Mouchao Tonel No. 3-4 (97 points).
The reviews say that the wine is 'easy' until 2040 drinkable .. the winemakers themselves are talking about eternal life!
Description
The very best red wine from Mouchaõ, the Tonel nº 3-4, is part of a very select group of Portuguese top wines that can compete internationally at the highest level. Tonel nº 3-4 is made exclusively from alicante bouschet grapes and picked by hand in the Carapetos vineyard. The grapes are taken in 20 kg containers to the cellar, not dismembered and in lagares, large open fermenters, pressed with the feet and then slowly fermented. After fermentation, the wine ripens for 24 months in large barrels of Portuguese oak which bear the numbers 3 and 4 and give the name to this impressive red wine made exclusively in the best harvest years. Mouchão is one of the great classics in the Portuguese wine world. A wine estate of 38 hectares, owned by the Reynolds family since 1901, where time stood still and only in 1991 was connected to electricity. Here wine is made without haste, as before. Recommended serving temperature is 17ºC.
