Beautiful white wine from the Chenin grape
Grapes are picked late and by hand
Pure and sweet
Perfect with blue cheese, refined pastries and sweet desserts
Tasting note La Croix Blanche
Full in color, powerful and refined with scent with nuances of ripe peach, apricot and almond. The flavor structure is full, round, sweet and ends with a persistent, soft aftertaste and a lot of aromatic length.
In the small appellation Savennières, Sylvie Plessis and her husband Christian make beautiful, dry white wines from the chenin grape. The couple also owns a beautiful slope vineyard plot in the Coteaux du Layon. At the bottom of the hill flows the stream Sant Lézin and the water provides the necessary moisture so that the ripe grape pourriture noble can occur in the autumn. The chenin grape is harvested here late and by hand, only from October and happens several times so that a large part of 'botrytis' grapes are picked. The careful vinification of Sylvie yields a flawless, sweet white wine with a fantastic terroir and grape expression. Chenin of this level is one of the great white wines of France and can, if desired, mature for a long time so that a great taste complexity can arise.
