Description
Riedel's Veloce series follows from a fine piece of technology. The glasses are machine made, but feel like they are mouth blown. Feather-light and wafer-thin, they lie wonderfully in the hand and you hardly feel it when you put them to your lips.
Riedel designed the Veloce Champagne glass in such a way that the complex character of this luxurious and delicate mousseux comes into its own. For example, the chalice of the glass is not narrow and straight, as in a flute, but egg-shaped. This ensures that the layered aroma of the Champagne can fully unfold.
The glass on the bottom is also provided with a bubble point, or a slightly roughened point in the glass, which ensures a nice, constant stream of delicate bubbles.
Riedel has also devised a new trick for this series: the type of wine for which the glass is intended is stated on the base. This way you can see at a glance which glass you can take out of the cupboard for which purpose.
And the name Veloce? This refers to the newly developing technology with which machines can now virtually imitate traditional glass blowing. A good thing, because that makes the production process a lot more efficient.
