| The red specialty of Chile | |
| Full of flavor with seductive oak | |
| Perfect wine for every day |
Description
The Carmenère grape is considered Chile's red specialty. If it's in good hands and yields are limited in the vineyard, we agree. A fine example is this one from Selnia, made under the supervision of Frenchman Sébastien Cabaret.
Born in Reims, he brought European expertise with him to Chile, where he makes wine under almost paradisiacal conditions. Plenty of sunshine, ample Andean meltwater in the vineyards, and the proximity of the cool ocean. He plays with these elements to create an exquisite, drinkable Carménère from Central Valley vineyards.
The grapes are harvested at night and in the early morning to ensure they arrive cool in the cellar. The vinification process aims to produce a wine with fruity aromas, a beautiful, smooth flavor, and a moderate alcohol content. For added seductive aromas and flavors, the wine is briefly aged in oak. In short, a highly successful Chilean red wine from a highly skilled winemaker.
Drinking at
A sultry, smooth red wine to enjoy on its own or with spicy (meat) dishes, such as lamb curry, stir-fried veal or chicken with noodles, or hard cheeses.
Tasting note
Youthful, ruby-red color and a seductive aroma of red cherry, blueberry, plum, and mint. A full-bodied attack with jammy red fruit and ripe, soft tannins. The finish is clean with notes of toast and caramel.
