Description
Winemakers and husband and wife Claudia and Bill Small not only know Marlborough inside and out and have a fantastic network, but they also know everything about grape growing and winemaking. The two met at the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Wine and Vineyard, worked for a large wine company in Marlborough for many years, and decided to join forces in 2010 to launch their own label.
Claudia and Bill run their business on a small, minimalist basis: they rent part of a wine cellar and source their grapes from some of the finest independent growers with vineyards in the most beautiful parts of Marlborough, such as Awatere and the Wairau Valley. Naturally, they know exactly how to transform this beautiful raw material into superb wines.
The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is their signature wine. It's a blend of Sauvignon Blanc from various sub-regions and at varying stages of ripeness, creating a multi-dimensional aroma and flavor. The Smalls ferment the grapes in stainless steel tanks after harvest and briefly mature the wine on settled yeasts.
The result is a vibrant, modern Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, with expressive aromas of gooseberry, kiwi, and lime, and an intense, vibrant, and lingering flavor. It pairs beautifully with shellfish and is also perfect as an aperitif. New to our range and already a favorite!
