Description

The delicate Ruwer wines from Karthäuserhof already had cult status among German and international wine journalists and sommeliers. But since the arrival of 'Winzer des Jahres 2021' Mathieu Kauffmann, former winemaker of Bollinger Champagne and Reichsrat von Buhl, the wines have received even more attention.

Kauffmann's philosophy of making the dryest possible Riesling while retaining ripe fruit tones can be tasted in the beautiful 'Ortswein' Eitelsbacher Riesling. The delicate, pure aromas and extremely balanced taste reveal a very skilled winemaker.

The beautiful style of fruit-dominated, lightly alcoholic white wine with such a seductive drinkability is unique in the German wine world. Despite only 11% alcohol, this Ruwer Riesling tastes fuller than you would expect. This is largely due to the at least thirty-year-old vines ('Alte Reben') that deliver a low yield of high quality.

This beautiful Riesling is already very tasty, but lovers of matured white wine can easily wait another five to ten years.
