Small production, the top of Portugal
Beautiful and intense red wine with nuances of spices, jammy fruit and mature nuances of leather. The taste is fresh and powerful; the aftertaste balanced, full and aromatic.
Mouchaõ is one of the great classics in the Portuguese wine world. A wine estate of 38 hectares, owned since 1901 by the Reynolds family, where time stood still and only in 1991 was connected to electricity. Here wine is made without haste, as before. The hand-picked grapes are still kept in lagares, large open fermentation trays, pressed with their feet and then slowly fermented. The top wine Mouchão has international recognition as one of the very best Portuguese wines. Ponte das Canas is more accessible, elegant and previously drinkable. After the fermentation of the alicante bouschet, syrah, touriga nacional and franca, this tyrant ripens 12 months in wooden barrels of French oak and another 12 months in the bottle for shipping.
