Full red in color; refined and powerful with a scent of ripe blackberries, toasted oak and vanilla. The full flavor is balanced, rich and aromatic; the aftertaste has mild, soft tannins and a persistent aroma.
Red wine from Alentejo
Alexandre Relvas and his collaborator Nuno Franco, both anologian, choose each year - independently of each other - what they consider to be the very best barrels of wine from the native grapes Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. Then they make a special assembly of this selection, with as many preferred characteristics as possible from both winemakers. This impressive red alentejo comes from vineyards on slate-containing clay soils. These vineyards almost naturally deliver a low yield and therefore concentrated grapes. After picking, the grapes ferment in temperature-controlled open barrels, the so-called lagares. The second lactic fermentation and maturation takes nine months and takes place in 400 liter barrels of French oak. The result is a deeply colored, powerful red wine with an impressive aroma of ripe fruit and dosed oak. The wine has structure, but is not heavy or bulky and ends with a long, soft finish. A crowd favorite!
