Huber Zweigelt Tasting Note
Austrian red wine with a powerful aroma of ripe blackcurrants and blackberries. The taste is intensely juicy and full-bodied: delicious with various meat dishes and spicy meals.
Description
Markus Huber owns about 25 hectares of vineyards in the best locations in the Traisental and is now part of Austria's top league. Traisental is known for its highly calcareous soil. In addition to white grapes such as Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, Huber also plants the red Zweigelt. Specifically for this grape variety, Huber seeks out plots with a high proportion of sand and loess soil. This gives the Zweigelt its pleasant fullness of flavor. After fermentation, the wine ages for about 5 months in large oak barrels. Climatically, with cool nights and warm days, Traisental is reminiscent of Burgundy, which lies at the same latitude.
