Descriptions
Classy wines at very modest prices. That's what Domaine Coudoulet is known for. Their Pinot Noir is a wonderful example. While in previous years this wine always had a distinctly Mediterranean character—ripe, round, and with abundant color—now the signature of Camille Ournac is clearly evident.
The wine is lighter and more elegant than before, more reminiscent of a fine German Spätburgunder than a Languedoc Pinot. This isn't entirely surprising. Camille is not only a huge Pinot Noir enthusiast, he also studied in Dijon, located in the world's premier Pinot Noir region, Burgundy.
Here he learned typical Burgundy winemaking techniques, such as cold maceration, which he now also applies at home. The result is impressive. A wonderfully juicy, fruity, and slightly spicy red wine that pairs well slightly chilled as an aperitif or with light meat dishes. This is southern French ripeness with Burgundian elegance. Hats off!
