Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel
American red wine with a spicy, fruity, and spicy aroma with hints of oak. Its full, fresh flavor pairs well with grilled lamb or beef with light spices.
Red wine from Sonomo Valley
When Giovanni (John Sr.) Pedroncelli started his winery in 1927 by purchasing vineyards, there were already 25-year-old Zinfandel vines there. New shoots from these vines, the Mother Clone, have since been used for further plantings. These now nearly 110-year-old vines still provide reproduction and contribute to the Zinfandel blend!
The result is a complex, spicy, full-bodied wine aged in oak with great length and structure. The Pedroncelli family works with artisanal methods and harvests the grapes by hand. Moreover, the wine stabilizes naturally during its fifteen months of barrel aging. Californian wines are often grossly underrated in terms of quality, but this fantastic value for money is a must-try!
