Trentino Alto Adigo
With its fifty hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards near Lake Kaltern (Lago di Caldaro), Manincor is among the absolute top wineries in Alto Adige, Northern Italy. One of the finest red wines produced by owner Michael Goëss-Enzenberg is undoubtedly the Cassiano, a beautiful and refined blend of six different grape varieties.
The Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (30%), and 5% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo (!), and Syrah come from southeastern, lake-facing slopes. A remarkable feature is that the wooden barrels are made from oak from the estate itself. This oak, felled from Alto Adige, is air-dried for three years, emphasizing the wine's remarkable refinement, which is aged in these barrels for eighteen months.
In our opinion, Cassiano is a grand wine with silky tannins and an elegance and drinkability that are hard to match. Pour this wine into a large wine glass and savor its beautiful aromas to the fullest.
