Tasting note Menetou Salon

Bright red wine with a spicy fruity aroma of fresh cherries, herbs and slightly caramel. The taste starts spicy and develops a mild tannin; jam-like fragrant in the aftertaste.

Description

Menetou-salon is now known to many wine lovers as one of the top sauvignons of the Loire. Much less known is the planting of the Pinot Noir grape. In the neighboring area of Sancerre, Pinot Noir is often grown on less well-located plots, which results in a somewhat thin, sharp red wine. This is not the case with Clément in Menetou. He selected the warmest vineyards, allowing this red grape to develop beautiful ripeness. In addition, the vines, which are between thirty and fifty years old, produce concentrated grapes.

The second fermentation and maturation takes place in small oak barrels. The wine remains in partly new oak barrels for approximately twelve months, so only a slight wood influence can be tasted. In the words of Pierre Clément 'un très grand pinot noir'.
