Tasting note Quincy
Description
The small wine region of Quincy lies in the Loire Valley, just west of the famous Sancerre and Menetou-Salon, and is considered a relatively cool area. Quite different from, for example, southern France. This is evident in the wines made from grapes that take longer to ripen and therefore retain more acidity.
This Quincy tastes fresher than a Sauvignon from a "warm" climate. Jean Tatin, owner of Domaine du Tremblay, uses grapes from old Sauvignon vines to create a delicious and exceptionally pure dry white wine. Tasted blind, this wine could easily be mistaken for a good Sancerre. Its characteristics are juicy fruit, purity, and refreshing drinkability. In short, a striking example of a classic Sauvignon.
