Description

Monterrei lies east of the much better-known Rías Baixas and is the driest and warmest wine region of Galicia. Consequently, conditions for viticulture are considerably more favorable. The grapes ripen more easily, and the wines are generally somewhat rounder and fuller in flavor. Monterrei—like many other small wine regions in this part of Spain—is making a strong comeback. At the Mendez family's Finca Os Cobatos winery, state-of-the-art practices are employed.

Nevertheless, for quality reasons, the region-typical Godello grapes are still hand-picked. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the spent yeast cells for over four months. A proven classic technique to give the wine a fuller and softer flavor structure. The result: a juicy and original crisp dry white wine with excellent value for money and already a long list of very good press reviews.
