classic Sicilian red from Caruso & Minini
100% nero d'avola, the red grape of the island
partly wood-ripened for a nice balance between fruit and structure
ideal with pasta dishes with tomato sauce, pizza or roasted meat

Nero D'Avola

Bright red color, beautifully scented with ripe fruit notes, slightly caramel and mild spices. The taste is full and balanced and develops a mild tannin and aromatic finish.

Minini Sicilia Terre di Giumara

Nero d'Avola is the most widely planted blue grape variety in Sicily. Nero refers to the intense dark color of the skin and therefore also of the wine. The grape is said to originate in the town of Avola, on the southeast coast of the island south of Syracuse.

In the hands of skilled winemakers, this grape variety gives good results all over the island. At Caruso & Minini, the grapes for this Nero d'Avola are harvested by hand and ferment the wine in steel tanks. Then one third of the wine is aged in barriques for four months, while the remainder remains in steel tanks.

The result: a pleasant balance between juiciness and firmness. Combine it with classic Italian dishes such as pasta with tomato sauce, pizza or roasted meat. Also nice to drink as it is, with or without some salumi (Italian meat products) on the side.

Caruso & Minini: modern winemakers in Sicily
