Tasting note Alvear Fino CB
Subtle, delicate wine with a light straw yellow color. Fresh, salty and slightly floral scent with aromas of almonds. The taste is spicy and refreshing with a smooth aftertaste.
Description
The Montilla-Morilles wine region is located north of the southern Spanish city of Malaga. The wine region has been known for centuries for producing exceptionally high quality pedro ximénez (PX) grapes. This grape variety is used for the production of both dry and sweet Montilla. This dry Fino is the flagship of Alvear and made from the very best PX grapes. Due to the aging in the barrel under flor, a blanket of yeast cells, the wine develops specific aromas of yeast and almonds. CB comes from Carlos Billanueva, the cellar master who, in the early 19th century, provided the barrels with the best wines with his initials.
