Description

What a beautiful, skillfully crafted rosé from Alexandre Relvas, the winemaker of our popular Alentejo estate, Herdade de São Miguel. Due to the hot climate in southern Portugal, most of Alexandre's wines are indeed beautifully balanced, but also deep in color and full, powerful, and pronounced in flavor. The Pom-Pom, on the other hand, has a strikingly light salmon-pink color and a surprisingly refreshing taste.

Alexandre makes it from hand-picked Touriga Nacional, Syrah, and Aragonez (Tempranillo). Once in the cellar, the grapes are pressed after a short maceration, giving the juice a beautiful salmon-pink color. Alexandre ferments the juice partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in oak barrels. Finally, he ages 10% of the wine for four months in French oak barrels for just a little extra body and creaminess.

The Pom-Pom is a juicy, accessible rosé with notes of strawberry, peach, and grapefruit, and a lingering taste. Drink it as an aperitif with small bites, but also with summer salads, grilled fish, or shellfish. A magnificent rosé that, with its distinctive packaging, also looks beautiful on the table.
