Elegant, wood-aged Sangiovese
From the highest vineyard in Brunello
Great with ossobuco or wild boar

Tasting note Brunello di Montalcino

Beautiful and distinctive, light red colored Brunello with scents of fresh red fruit and notes of oak maturation. The taste is full and fresh with ripe tannins. The finish is minutes long and aromatically strong.

Castello Romitorio in the famous Brunello di Montalcino is owned by the artist Sandro Chia, who bought the dilapidated azienda in 1984 to live there. He restored the buildings and planted sangiovese sticks on the surrounding slopes.
The vineyards are located in the cool, northwestern part of Brunello. This has turned out to be a major advantage because, unlike the warm south, the grapes ripen more slowly and longer here. This is of crucial importance for the beautiful acids that characterize a great Brunello. The grapes are harvested by hand and ferment in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a maturation for 24 months in small oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle.

Drink at
Nice wine with dishes with mushrooms and truffle, but also with grilled meat dishes. Once ripened also very nicely outside the meal.

Shelf life
Also accessible at a young age after decantation. Optimal taste between 5 and 10 years after harvest.
