By David Nieuwoudt, the fifth generation winemaker
Aged in new French oak barriques
Luxurious, exclusive and very long lasting
The Cabernet Sauvignon from Cederberg
Deep ruby red Cabernet with a striking scent of blueberry, blackberry and smoky, vanilla aromas of luxurious oak. Powerful, full and rich with an intense taste and fine tannins in the long finish.
Cederberg Western Cape
The Five Generations wines are not just Cederberg's exclusive prestige wines. It is also a tribute to no fewer than five generations on this beautiful family domain in the natural park of the same name. The wine is made from grapes from the first vineyard that David's father planted in 1972.
The long growing season and relatively cool, high elevation allow the Cabernet grapes to mature perfectly while retaining acidity – essential for a top quality wine. To ensure that not only the sugars are sufficiently built up, but also the tannins in the skins and stems are well ripe, David lets the grapes hang just a little longer.
After the harvest, fermentation follows, with an additional eighteen days of skin soaking, in order to extract extra color and structure from the grapes. After pressing, the wine matures for eighteen months in new French oak barriques.
It's not for nothing that this special Cabernet can count on fantastic scores time and again in South Africa's independent wine guide, the Platter's Guide. The wine is not only incredibly rich, generous and luxurious, but can easily go into the cellar for ten years! Be quick, because this exclusive wine is only available for a limited time.
