Description

When you think of Sancerre, you immediately think of white wine. And rightly so, as that's the majority of production in this famous wine region in the Loire Valley. But the cool climate is also exceptionally well-suited to refined red Sancerre, made from Pinot Noir.

Taste this fine red from David Sautereau. This winemaker, representing the tenth generation of this family estate, has planted a full third of his vineyards to Pinot Noir, for the production of Sancerre Rosé and Rouge.



The vineyards are located in Cheverny, just west of Sancerre. The terroir ranges from chalky soils to iron-rich sandstone. David aims to express this diverse terroir as beautifully as possible in his wines.

This pure and elegant red Sancerre proves he succeeds without a doubt. With its pleasant, open aroma of ripe red fruit and a hint of toast, and its juicy, fruity flavor, this is a delicious glass to pair with mushroom ragout, roasted chicken, or young hard cheeses.

Drinking at

A smooth, intensely fruity red wine to enjoy lightly chilled solo. Delicious with four-cheese cannelloni and rutabaga, mushroom ragout, or young, hard cheeses.

Tasting note

A ruby-red wine with open aromas of cherry, plum, rosehip, and toast. Smooth and juicy with ripe red fruit, fresh acidity, and mild tannins on the palate. The finish is elegant and slightly spicy.

Shelf life

Drink immediately and keep for at least 6 years after harvest date.
