Tasting notes Beaumont Gamay
Light red in color, vibrant and fresh on the nose with notes of raspberry, cherry, and pear. The taste is smooth, juicy, and deliciously drinkable.
Description
Red Loire is practically synonymous with Cabernet Franc. Not surprising, since it's the region's most important grape variety. But besides Cabernet Franc, there are many other grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Gamay. So there's much to discover, such as the deliciously fruity and juicy Gamay from the small family estate La Tour Beaumont in Haut-Poitou.
Current winemaker Pierre Morgeau describes himself as an independent winegrower and free artisan, or rather, an independent winemaker and free artisan. He makes his wines in exactly the same way.
The 4 hectares of gamay vineyards are planted on flint and clay soil. Management is largely manual, both to promote biodiversity and to keep the grapes healthy and limit yields. Synthetic pesticides are strictly prohibited, and compost comes from the neighbor's livestock. The cellar is also kept as natural as possible.
After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented coolly, temperature-controlled, in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity, supple character of the Gamay grape. The wine is not aged in oak and is bottled young. Its intensely fruity and juicy character makes this red wine ideal as an aperitif, but it also possesses sufficient concentration and bite to pair well with charcuterie, poultry, or creamy cheese.
