Unique pinot noir from the Beaujolais
From quirky winemaker Jean-Paul Brun
Refined Burgundian style
Particularly pure, subtle and fruity
Tasting note Jean Paul Brun Pinot Noir
This is the only Pinot Noir in Brun's range and of convincing quality. This great harvest helps the wine to a higher class. Smooth, with ripe pinot noir fruit and beautifully refined.
Jean Paul Brun Winemaker
Jean-Paul Brun is a Bourguignon pur sang. For him no 'malpractice' like adding cultivated yeasts that give the wine a candy-like character. No, Jean-Paul likes old-fashioned good Beaujolais and therefore uses a Burgundian style of wine making.
He destemes the grapes and has them fermented traditionally in used, oak barrels. Chaptalizing (adding sugar) for higher alcohol percentages is out of the question for him. Brun also does not add any sulfite. He looks for pure fruit and terroir expression in his wines, so free from any frills.
Brun's Burgundian approach is not only reflected in his winemaking methods, but also in his plantings. Besides gamay, the most important grape in the Beaujolais, it also has chardonnay and - as one of the few - pinot noir in its vineyards. From the latter he makes a wine with Burgundy appellation. Elegant, pure and very refined. Blessed Burgundy pinot, but not for a Burgundy price.
