Refined red Loire of gamay
From the La Tour Beaumont family estate
From the small appellation Haut-Poitou
Lightly chilled very tasty

Tasting note Beaumont Gamay

Light red in color, dusty and fresh in scent with nuances of raspberry, cherry and pear. The taste is smooth, juicy and deliciously drinkable.

The Red Loire is almost synonymous with Cabernet Franc. Not surprising, because that is the most important blue grape in the region. But besides Cabernet Franc, there are many more blue grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Gamay. So there is much to discover, such as the wonderfully fruity and juicy gamay of the small-scale family domain La Tour Beaumont in Haut-Poitou.
The current winemaker Pierre Morgeau describes himself as a 'vigneron indépendant' and 'artisan libre', or an independent winegrower and free craftsman. This is exactly how he makes his wines.
The 4 hectares vineyard with gamay sticks are on a soil of flint and clay. Management is often done manually, both to promote biodiversity and to keep the grapes healthy and to limit the yields. Synthetic pesticides are out of the question and compost comes from the neighbor's livestock. The basement also works as naturally as possible.
After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and a cool, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel cuves follows to maintain the fruity, supple character of the gamay grape. The wine is not aged in wood and is bottled young. The intensely fruity and juicy character makes this red wine very suitable as an aperitif, but it also has sufficient concentration and 'bite' to combine well with charcuterie, poultry or creamy cheese.

Drink with
Real spring and summer wine, great with cold dishes or grilled sausages or poultry.
