Fragrant dry white wine with floral, spicy nuances and notes of anise and yellow fruit on the nose. The taste starts soft and round and finishes with a persistent aromatic aftertaste.

 

The Rhône is a red wine region through and through. White Rhône accounts for only a tiny percentage of total production and is therefore much less well-known. That is a shame, because white Rhône is often original, authentic, and exceptionally gastronomic. The La Gerbaude, for example, from our Cairanne producer Denis Alary is the best proof of this.

He makes it from local grapes Clairette, Roussanne, Viognier, and Bourboulenc. The vineyards are cultivated organically on typical Rhône terroir: clay and limestone soils, covered with garrigue and strewn with large pebbles.

Denis harvests by hand. After a short skin maceration, he gently presses the grapes to avoid excessive extraction. He vinifies all the wines separately; only after fermentation does he make the final blend.

It produces an elegant, pure white Rhône. The aroma is refined, with notes of flowers and green herbs. The taste is intense and mild, and a strikingly refined freshness ensures an excellent balance. Delicious to drink on its own, or to pair with fish or white meat.
