Fine mousse, fresh, youthful scent with slightly fruity and floral nuances. The taste is soft, round and ends fresh and mildly dry with a lingering mousse.

 

Authentic terroir wines of distinctive quality. That is the focus of Sabaté i Coca, a 40 hectare family domain in the Catalan region of Penedès. The family's winemaking history dates back to 1885; winemaker and owner Marcel Sabaté represents the proud fourth generation.

The winery is located in the Bitlles Valley, about fifty kilometers west of Barcelona. The special thing about this area is the extremely diverse terroir. Marcel distinguishes in his vineyards no less than 18 different soil types and 66 different plots, each with their own character.

The xarel-lo, macabeo and parellada for this Castellroig, the family business card, come from 30 different plots. The grapes are vinified separately and then blended, after which the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle – the traditional method for sparkling wines.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for at least 18 months in the bottle. It produces a beautiful sparkling Penedès, with nice freshness and refined floral and fruity aromas, a ripe, round taste and a delicate mousse. Ideal as an aperitif, but also perfect with tapas or light, summer dishes.
