Information

A delicious Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Powerful, gourmet red burgundy from the southern Mercurey region. A layered fragrance with aromas of black fruit, plum and cherry, as well as spicy and earthy notes. Full and powerful in taste, with refined tannins and an enormous concentration and length. Perfect with classic dishes such as boeuf bourguignon or coq au vin.

Francois Raquillet's Les Naugues Premier Cru

Jancis Robinson writes (about the 2016 harvest): 'For those who like Gevrey-Chambertin… and a bargain! '

The Cote d'Ôr may have the name when it comes to sublime Burgundies, but prices have also skyrocketed in recent years. Fortunately for the Burgundy lover, especially south of the most famous appellations, fantastic wines can be found that are much more reasonably priced.

A good example of such a wine is the premier cru Les Naugues from Mercurey specialist François Raquillet. This wine offers double value for money. Not only is Les Naugues considered one of the most beautiful terroirs of Mercurey, Domaine Raquillet is also seen as one of the references of the entire Côte Chalonnaise.

François' secret? Beautiful, no less than 50 year old vines in the Les Naugues vineyard, low yields and perfectly dosed wood use. This ensures that the wines of Raquillet are not only beautifully soft and accessible, but also deep, complex, gastronomic and easy to store.

The intense Les Naugues presents itself best between five and seven years after the harvest. Excellent to drink with a hearty meat or poultry dish, served with or without mushrooms.
