Description
Do you love oak-aged Chardonnay? Then it is very likely that this Triple G will become a firm favorite! Master of Wine Jürgen von der Mark bottled this Limited Edition Weissburgunder Chardonnay especially at our request and—as usual—it exceeded all expectations.
Jürgen and his partner Guido Walter harvest the grapes for this luxury white wine in specially selected vineyards in Ortenau, in northern Baden. With their southern exposure and granite soils, they possess the perfect conditions for top-quality Weissburgunder and Chardonnay.
To ensure the highest possible concentration of flavor, Jürgen keeps yields low. After the harvest, he ferments and ages the wine for fifteen months in oak barrels (228-500L), one-third of which are new and the rest used. This creates a beautiful balance between fruit expression and a seductive oak note. In keeping with his pure method, Jürgen bottles the wine with only light filtration and hardly any added sulfites.
The result is stunning. The Triple G has everything you want from an oak-aged white wine. It is lush and full-bodied, with notes of citrus, ripe stone fruit, vanilla, toast, and roasted nuts. And the name? It stands for Ganz Großes Gewächs. A big, fat wink to the prestigious German wine club VDP, of which Jürgen himself is not a member.
Drinks with
Oak-aged, full-bodied white wine to enjoy on its own. Also lovely with pan-fried plaice with spring vegetables, seafood risotto, or salad with roasted pumpkin and almonds.
Tasting note
Lemon-yellow wine with a seductive aroma of candied lemon, peach, apricot, vanilla, and roasted nuts. Powerful on the palate with ripe citrus fruit, creamy body, and mild acidity. The finish is long with brioche and browned butter.
Shelf life
Delicious now and keeps for 6 to 7 years after the harvest.
