Description
What a beautiful, classic white Douro from top house Romaneira. It is made from local grapes Viosinho, Gouveio, Rabigato, and Boal do Douro, harvested in various plots of the more than eighty hectares of steep terraced vineyards owned by the estate.
After harvesting and pressing, winemaker Carlos Agrellos ferments the different grape varieties separately. He does this half in oak (20% new and 30% aged) and half in stainless steel tanks, for a beautiful balance between fresh fruit and wood influence.
Subsequently, the wine ages for another six months, during which the yeasts are stirred weekly for three months. This provides more body and suppleness.
The result is a powerful and impressive, yet very refined white, with notes of ripe stone fruit and subtle oak, and a beautiful tension and length. Preferably drink this Douro classic at the table, for example with grilled fish, poultry, or oven-roasted root vegetables.
