JP Brun Beaujolais Blanc
A dry white wine with a refined aroma of ripe yellow fruit, a touch of toast, and light oak. The palate is round, full, and balanced, with a fresh, aromatic finish.
Beaujolais White
White Beaujolais, does it even exist? Yes, and how! Jean-Paul Brun makes a stunningly beautiful wine that puts many expensive white Burgundies to shame. The hand-picked Chardonnay grapes come from Brun's finest plots. They undergo "vinification bourguignonne": fermentation in oak barrels at least a year old and bâtonnage (the aging and stirring of yeast residues).
The result is a complex, full-bodied, dry white Beaujolais, with a subtle oak aroma and considerable finesse. Its drinkability is remarkable for a wine with so much flavor. This is partly because Jean-Paul Brun avoids chaptalization—a process in which sugar is added to the unfermented grape juice to achieve a higher alcohol content.
This distinctive winemaker also believes almost naturally in the positive properties of natural yeast and keeps filtering and fining to a minimum. A wine with minimal frills, but all the more character.
