Description

The family business Tenuta de Angelis has been known for years for its delicious red and white wines such as the Rosso Piceno Superiore Offida and Falerio. Owner Quinto Fausti prefers traditional wines that, as he says, fit well with the food. A view that many (older) Italian winemakers share. But since his son Alighiero works in the company, the style is changing. For good we find.

Alighiero realizes that many of his non-Italian customers mainly drink red wine outside the meal and that an appropriate vinification is required. Already tasting and discussing with Alighiero and Quinto we also discovered that part of their production is not bottled but is intended for sale to traders in Tuscany and Veneto. A small tank with ripe round red wine was very positive.

It turned out to be a Montepulciano made by Alighiero from his organic vineyard in Offida, aged for three months in oak casks. Exactly what we were looking for! This full, powerful and creamy red local wine also tastes excellent outside the meal. The Quinto Rosso is now bottled and Alighiero named this special assembly - with a wink - to his father.
