Pinot Noir from Rheinhessen

Christoph and Johannes Thörle make incredibly delicious Pinot Noir on limestone-rich soil in the northern part of Rheinhessen.

Insiders regard the winery of the two talented brothers as the fastest-growing estate in Rheinhessen. Journalists from Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, Gault & Millau, and Feinschmecker, among others, are following developments closely and rate the Thörle wines extremely positively.

The grapes for this wine are harvested as late as possible—often not until the end of October—and picked by hand to achieve the best possible quality. Spätburgunder is a delicate grape, and the timing of the harvest has a major influence on the style of the wine. The Thörle brothers seek finesse and an optimal balance between acidity, aromatic intensity, and ripeness.

After alcoholic fermentation, the wine ages for approximately ten months in used oak barrels. The restrained wood aroma supports the refined fruit aromas and is beautifully balanced.

Truly a very fine Spätburgunder that will appeal to many Burgundy lovers, but also a nice introduction for Pinot Noir newcomers.
