A delicious, powerful Alentejo Rosé
A beautiful Portuguese rosé with aromas of delicate red fruit and light spices. The palate is juicy, balanced, and fresh. An excellent wine with cold fish dishes, salads, or lightly spiced pasta dishes.
From Bordeaux to Alentejo
Bordeaux-trained Alexandre Relvas crafts beautiful, pure wines from indigenous Portuguese grapes. His delicious, spicy, dry rosé is made from Aragonez and Touriga Nacional grapes, which ripen optimally in the Alentejo region.
The timing of the harvest is crucial for making a fresh and drinkable rosé. While very ripe grapes can make a powerful red wine, rosé requires an earlier harvest. Harvesting earlier also means the grapes are less uniformly ripe. Therefore, strict selection is required to harvest only the best grapes, and this is much better done manually than mechanically.
A major added benefit is that the harvest arrives undamaged in the cellar and doesn't unintentionally ferment. The grapes undergo a short maceration and are then gently pressed. Hand-picking is expensive and time-consuming, but much better for the quality of the rosé. And you can taste that in this beautiful Herdade de São Miguel.
