Information
classic Sicilian red from Caruso & Minini
100% Nero d'Avola, the island's red grape
partly wood-matured for a nice balance between fruit and structure
ideal with pasta dishes with tomato sauce, pizza or roasted meat

Nero D'Avola

Bright red color, beautifully aromatic with ripe fruit notes, a hint of caramel, and mild spice. The palate is full and balanced, developing a mild tannin and aromatic finish.

Minini Sicilia Terre di Giumara

Nero d'Avola is the most widely planted red grape variety in Sicily. Nero refers to the intense dark color of the skins, and therefore of the wine. The grape is said to have originated in the town of Avola, on the southeast coast of the island, south of Syracuse.

In the hands of skilled winemakers, this grape variety yields excellent results throughout the island. At Caruso & Minini, the grapes for this Nero d'Avola are harvested by hand, and the wine is fermented in steel tanks. A third of the wine is then aged for four months in barriques, while the remainder remains in steel tanks.

The result: a pleasant balance between juiciness and firmness. Pair it with classic Italian dishes like pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, or roasted meat. It's also delicious on its own, with or without some salumi (Italian cured meats).

Caruso & Minini: modern winemakers in Sicily
On the western tip of Sicily, in the province of Trapani, lies the Caruso & Minini family winery. The estate is located in the heart of the region where the traditional Marsala is produced, but the family primarily focuses on producing modern white and red wines. With an eye for the centuries-old wine culture, they craft contemporary, yet typically Sicilian, wines from both indigenous and international grape varieties.
