Sao Miguel Madxa White

Madxa (pronounced 'madsha') represents the new trend in Portugal. Winemaker Alexandre Relvas strongly believes in the use of indigenous Portuguese grapes, but which he cultivates, harvests, and ferments using contemporary insights and techniques. No longer bound by the traditions of 'old' winemaking, nor by the boundaries of the appellations.

 

Alexandre blends Madxa from wines of various origins. For instance, the white Madxa comes partly from the renowned Vinho Verde and Dão. That part of the wine provides aromatic power and a delightful freshness. For the juicy and ripe notes, Alexandre selects wines from warmer vineyards around Lisbon. The blend of Antão Vaz, Arinto, and Fernão Pires grapes is very successful and distinctive. A beautiful aperitif wine, but also perfect as an accompaniment to salads, fish, and chicken dishes.
